1、 Basic characteristics

  1. Appearance and color: Palladium powder usually appears as a powdery substance in shades of gray black or silver white.
  2. Chemical properties: Palladium powder has stable chemical properties, is not easily oxidized, has the characteristics of an inert metal, and does not react with most acids and bases. But under high temperature and pressure, palladium powder can react with hydrogen to generate palladium hydride.
  3. Physical properties: The density of palladium powder is approximately 12 grams per cubic centimeter, slightly lighter than silver and platinum. Its melting point is relatively high, about 1550 ° C, and its boiling point is even higher, about 2900 ° C.

  1. Catalyst: Palladium powder is widely used as a catalyst due to its ability to react with hydrogen gas. 3、 Production method

  1. Chemical deposition method: By reacting a solution containing palladium ions with reducing agents such as sodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate, sodium borohydride, etc., palladium precipitation is generated. After washing, drying and other steps, high-purity palladium powder is finally obtained.
  2. Physical vapor deposition method: using physical means to deposit palladium atoms or molecules on the surface of a substrate, forming palladium powder. Among them, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) are the two main technologies.
  3. Sol gel method: the solution containing palladium ion is mixed with gel agent to form sol. After heating or chemical reaction, the sol gel is formed, and finally palladium gel particles are obtained. After heat treatment, gel particles are transformed into palladium powder.
  4. Reduction method: Directly reduce palladium compounds to palladium powder, commonly used reducing agents include hydrogen, sodium hydroxide, sodium borohydride, etc.
