Electromagnetic shielding film has become the main solution for FPC electromagnetic shielding, replacing printing silver paste ink. The market size is gradually expanding and it is favored by FPC manufacturers. Electromagnetic shielding filmOverview: Electromagnetic shielding film is used for the outermost layer of FPC. Due to its advantages such as high wiring density, light weight, thin thickness, foldable and bendable, three-dimensional wiring, etc., which are not commonly found in rigid PCB boards, it has developed rapidly in recent years. Electromagnetic shielding films have also developed into three types: metal alloy type, conductive adhesive type, and microneedle type, among which metal alloy type is the most widely used and mainstream type.

Conductive electromagnetic shielding filmAdding a layer of conductive adhesive on top of the insulation layer has low shielding effectiveness and high cost. The metal alloy type is covered with a thick layer of alloys such as copper and silver on the insulation layer, followed by a thinner conductive adhesive layer (conductive particles with better diameter consistency). The production process is mature, low-cost, and has high shielding efficiency, which is currently the most mainstream. Micro needle type is a type of insulation layer covered with a needle shaped metal alloy layer, usually made of copper, and covered with a layer of adhesive layer (but different from metal alloy type, it does not contain conductive particles). Micro needles penetrate the adhesive layer to achieve conductive effect. Although the shielding efficiency is high and the insertion loss can be greatly reduced, the structure and production process are complex.

After 2014, the technology and market of domestic enterprises began to take off, and customer recognition gradually increased.

The reason why electromagnetic shielding films have received so much attention is entirely due to FPC drivers. FPC is mainly used in mobile phones, computers, and other consumer electronics products, accounting for about 80%. From the following figure, it can be seen how important FPC is for mobile phones, and electromagnetic shielding film is one of the core materials for FPC to achieve electromagnetic shielding function and ensure normal operation.
