Classification of Thermal Conductive Double sided Adhesive
Firstly, let me understand that thermal conductive double-sided tape can be divided into two types based on the different materials used for production: with or without substrate. It can also be divided according to the composition of the substrate, adhesive composition, etc. The main material composition is divided as follows:
1. There is a substrate (as shown in Figure 1) and no substrate (as shown in Figure 2).
2. No substrate, cotton paper PET、 Foam, non-woven fabric, cloth.
3. Water based acrylic ester, oil-based acrylic ester, solvent based rubber, hot melt adhesive, and organosilicon.

Non substrate double-sided adhesive only has a film, so achieving the same bonding performance, the total thickness of the adhesive is smaller, softer, and has better adhesion. The disadvantage is that the adhesive layer may overflow at the end face when the ambient temperature is relatively high.
Thermal conductive double-sided tape is made by filling acrylic polymer with thermal conductive ceramic powder and compounding it with organic silicone adhesive. Has high thermal conductivity and insulation properties, as well as flexibility, compressibility, conformity, and strong adhesion. Adapting to a wide temperature range, it can fill uneven surfaces, tightly and firmly adhere to heat source devices and heat sinks, and quickly dissipate heat.
The ordinary double-sided adhesive tape we usually use is a roll shaped adhesive tape made by using paper, cloth, and plastic film as substrates, and then uniformly coating elastic pressure-sensitive adhesive or resin pressure-sensitive adhesive on the above substrates. It is composed of three parts: substrate, adhesive, release paper (film), or silicone oil paper.
So from the above simple description, everyone should know the huge difference in materials between the two, which directly leads to a huge price difference. Everyone should know that ordinary double-sided tape does not have thermal conductivity. If thermal conductivity is required, it must be used.
In addition, thermal conductive double-sided tape is usually applied between the heating element and the heat sink, and the heat sink is firmly fixed on the heating element by applying force and pressure, which is conducive to improving production efficiency. Its heat dissipation effect is more significant than that of ordinary heat dissipation stickers, greatly improving the lifespan of the components. Its thermal conductivity is high and stable. It can work for a minimum of 5 years at room temperature (80-120 degrees). It can be cut into specific specifications. The most widely used fields today include electronic appliances, LED lighting, hardware industry, printing industry, and other electronic appliance manufacturing industries.
