When using a mobile phone for a long time, especially after playing games or watching movies, the body may become hot. I believe many people have experienced this. Recently, a mobile phone heat dissipation device called graphene mobile phone heat dissipation sticker quietly became popular online. The advertisement details claim that as long as the heat dissipation sticker is attached to the back of the phone, the temperature of the phone when in contact with the case will drop by 5 to 15 degrees Celsius, and it will become the "air conditioner" of the phone. Is the effect really as miraculous as advertised? Today we will conduct an experiment to test the cooling function of this "artifact".
Experimental preparation:
Experimental materials: A certain brand of mobile phone, infrared thermometer, graphene phone heat dissipation sticker
Experimental process:
Experiment 1: The phone did not use graphene heat dissipation patches1. Use an infrared thermometer to measure the surface temperature of a mobile phone when not in use.
2. After playing the video continuously on the phone for half an hour, measure the surface temperature of the phone again.
Experimental results:
The surface temperature of the phone was measured to be 27.7 ℃ without using graphene heat dissipation patches. After playing the video continuously for half an hour, the back of the phone could be clearly felt to be heating up by hand. The temperature was measured to be 32.3 ℃ using an infrared thermometer, and the temperature of the phone increased by 4.6 ℃ before and after use.
Experiment 2: Using Graphene Heat Dissipation Patch for Mobile PhonesExperimental process:
1. Restore the phone to room temperature and put it back into an unused state. Apply a graphene heat dissipation sticker on the back of the phone and measure the surface temperature with an infrared thermometer;
2. After playing the video continuously for half an hour on the phone, measure the surface temperature of the phone again.
Experimental results:
The surface temperature of the phone was measured to be 27.1 ℃ this time, but during the video playback, there was no obvious heating sensation when touched by hand. After half an hour of video playback, the temperature was measured to be 28.3 ℃ using an infrared thermometer, and the temperature of the phone increased by 1.2 degrees before and after use.
New material graphene has outstanding thermal conductivityAfter experimental testing, it has been proven that graphene mobile phone heat dissipation patches can indeed have a certain cooling effect on mobile phones, but it is not as exaggerated as the advertised cooling effect of up to 15 degrees. Browsing online purchase reviews, it was also found that the vast majority of buyers claimed that after using the heat sink, their phones were indeed not as hot as before. But many buyers have also expressed doubts about whether it is possible to lower the temperature by 15 degrees.
Graphene is the main material for heat dissipation stickers, and its ability to cool down mobile phones is attributed to its significant contribution. Jiang Peng, an experimenter from the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Peking University, explained that graphene, as a new type of material, has good thermal conductivity. Therefore, a heat dissipating sticker made of graphene can be attached to a mobile phone to dissipate the heat generated by the phone during use through graphene, achieving the effect of cooling the phone. Jiang Peng said that materials with good thermal conductivity, such as graphene, generally have a mesh or pore like internal structure, which determines their outstanding thermal conductivity.
