How to choose a suitable oneLED light strip thermal conductive double-sided tapeThis requires personalized selection based on the needs of one's own product. If the PCB board on the LED lighting fixture does not have fasteners or locking screws to fix the thermal conductive material. So when choosing thermal conductive double-sided tape, not only should it have good thermal conductivity, but it should also have high adhesive strength to replace the fixing method of screws.

At present, there are two types of thermal conductive double-sided adhesive on the market: non substrate thermal conductive double-sided adhesive and glass fiber (with substrate) thermal conductive double-sided adhesive. Non substrate thermal conductive double-sided adhesive has slightly better thermal conductivity but is expensive and cannot be reworked. The double-sided adhesive with fiberglass thermal conductivity has a higher thermal resistance and slightly lower thermal conductivity due to the presence of fiberglass. It is also cheaper and can be operated repeatedly or cut into any shape according to customer requirements.

1.Classification of Thermal Conductive Double sided Adhesive

Firstly, let me understand that thermal conductive double-sided tape can be divided into two types based on the different materials used for production: with or without substrate. It can also be divided according to the composition of the substrate, adhesive composition, etc. The main material composition is divided as follows:

1. With substrate, without substrate

2. No substrate, cotton paper PET、 Foam, non-woven fabric, cloth

3. Water based acrylic ester, oil-based acrylic ester, solvent based rubber, hot melt adhesive, and organosilicon


Non substrate double-sided adhesive only has a film, so achieving the same bonding performance, the total thickness of the adhesive is smaller, softer, and has better adhesion. The disadvantage is that the adhesive layer may overflow at the end face when the ambient temperature is relatively high. The ordinary double-sided adhesive tape we usually use is a roll shaped adhesive tape made by using paper, cloth, and plastic film as substrates, and then uniformly coating elastic pressure-sensitive adhesive or resin pressure-sensitive adhesive on the above substrates. It is composed of three parts: substrate, adhesive, release paper (film), or silicone oil paper.

So from the above simple description, everyone should know the huge difference in materials between the two, which directly leads to a huge price difference. Everyone should know that ordinary double-sided tape does not have thermal conductivity. If thermal conductivity is required, it must be used.

2.Tips for Choosing Thermal Conductive Double sided Adhesive

1. Non woven substrate thermal conductive double-sided adhesive has good adhesion and processability, generally with long-term temperature resistance of 70-80 ℃ and short-term temperature resistance of 100-120 ℃. The thickness is generally 0.08-0.15mm, suitable for the assembly of household appliances and electronic instrument parts, as well as display screen lenses.

2. Non substrate thermal conductive double-sided adhesive tape has excellent bonding effect to prevent detachment and excellent waterproof performance. It has good processability and temperature resistance, and can withstand temperatures of 204-230 ℃ in the short term and 120-145 ℃ in the long term. The thickness is generally 0.05-0.13mm, suitable for LED lighting equipment, heat pipe components or other heat dissipation components.

3. PET double-sided adhesive has good temperature resistance and strong shear resistance. It generally has a long-term temperature resistance of 100-125 ℃ and a short-term temperature resistance of 150-200 ℃, with a thickness of 0.048-0.2mm. It is suitable for memory storage, high-frequency microprocessor chips, laptops, and desktop computers.
