Flexible PI film
 
Polyimide (PI) film is a thin film insulation material made by the condensation and casting of phthalic anhydride and diaminodiphenyl ether in a strongly polar solvent, followed by imidization. PI film has become the best flexible substrate material currently due to its excellent high-temperature resistance, mechanical properties, and chemical stability.
PI film is yellow transparent with a relative density between 1.39 and 1.45. It has excellent high and low temperature resistance, electrical insulation, adhesion, radiation resistance, and dielectric resistance, and can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -269 ℃ to 280 ℃. It is widely used in high-tech fields such as aviation, aerospace, machinery, electrical, atomic energy, microelectronics, liquid crystal displays, and has become an indispensable material in cutting-edge technology fields such as rockets and aerospace worldwide.
For foldable phones, flexible substrate materials are hard and fragile compared to traditional glass materials. Replacing traditional rigid glass substrates with flexible substrate materials is one of the key elements to achieve product flexibility. PI film has become the best flexible substrate material currently due to its excellent high temperature resistance, mechanical properties, and chemical stability.
For example, "Made in China 2025" proposes that by 2020, flexible displays should reach a resolution of 300PPI for small-sized flexible AMOLED displays with a bendable diameter of<1cm; By 2025, a 100 inch, rollable 8K4K flexible display with small to medium-sized foldable screens will be available.
 
PI is one of the organic polymer materials that can withstand high temperatures up to 400 degrees Celsius, with long-term use temperatures between 200 and 300 degrees Celsius. It has no obvious melting point, high insulation performance, and excellent performance in diaphragm materials. It has excellent high and low temperature resistance, electrical insulation, adhesion, radiation resistance and other special properties, so it can replace traditional ITO glass and is widely used in substrates, cover plates and touch materials in foldable mobile phones. Among them, yellow PI is mainly used as substrate material and auxiliary material in flexible OLED, while CPI (transparent PI) is mainly used as cover material and touch material.

Among them, the production of resin and base film is the highest barrier in the world.
