Apple AR/VR glasses have 3 displays and Micro OLED shielding material provided by Research Platinum

Ross Young, CEO of research firm DSCC, shared a research report stating that Apple's AR/VR glasses will have three displays in 2022, consisting of two Micro OLEDs and one AMOLED panel.

Micro OLED will be the main display screen for Apple Glass, and the use of AMOLED panels is still uncertain. The report points out that due to the low pixel density of AMOLED panels, VR glasses do not currently use this technology, and it is speculated that Apple may have used it to create low resolution peripheral vision.

Sony has the opportunity to become a Micro OLED supplier and recently showcased a 4K display screen with 4000 pixels per inch, clearly designed for VR glasses. The report suggests that Sony is likely to develop this type of display screen for Apple. If true, the 4000 × 4000 pixel arrangement represents a diagonal size of 1.4 inches for the glasses screen.

The first generation of Apple's AR/VR glasses were mainly aimed at professionals and developers, expanding the AR/VR ecosystem. Ross Young believes that the price of this device may be as high as thousands of dollars, consistent with previous rumors that it was priced at $3000.

Based on past rumors, Mark Gurman, a well-known Apple product whistleblower for Bloomberg, believes that Apple AR glasses use a built-in holographic display through the lens to display content, emails, maps, games, and more; In 2020, it was revealed that Apple has two strategies for developing AR devices: one is to simply use AR glasses, and the other is to use more powerful AR/VR glasses.

Chinese Tianfeng International Securities analyst Guo Mingchi believes that AR/VR glasses will heavily rely on iPhones and be equipped with the most advanced chips, which can operate without nearby phones, making it one of the biggest selling points.

It is currently rumored that this pair of glasses will be announced as early as this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and will make its debut later this year, but it is unclear whether Apple will be ready in time.
